How AI Agents Manage Blogs with Model Context Protocol (MCP)

Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI agents interact with external services through structured tool calls. For blogging, this means an AI assistant can research keywords, create posts with SEO validation, generate publication themes, and manage an entire content pipeline — all through a single API endpoint.

What Is the Model Context Protocol?

MCP is a JSON-RPC 2.0 based protocol that standardizes how AI models discover and use external tools. Instead of relying on custom API integrations or prompt engineering, MCP provides a formal contract: the server advertises available tools with input schemas, and the AI client calls them with structured arguments. This removes ambiguity and makes tool use reliable across different AI providers.

Authentication for AI Agents

The platform supports two authentication flows designed specifically for AI agents. The Programmatic Email Verification flow works for headless agents that know the user email and can ask for a verification code.

Both flows return a Bearer API key that the agent uses for all subsequent MCP requests. The key grants access to all blogs owned by the authenticated user, with a subdomain parameter to target specific blogs.

Real-Time SEO Validation

When an agent calls create_post or update_post, the server analyzes the content and returns a detailed SEO score. This includes checks for meta title length (30-60 characters), meta description length (120-156 characters), focus keyword placement in title, headings, and body text, word count relative to competitors, heading structure (H2/H3 distribution), and image count. The agent can iterate on the content based on this feedback before publishing.

SERP Research Before Writing

The research_topic tool analyzes top-ranking pages for any keyword before the agent starts writing. It returns competitor titles, URLs, word counts, heading counts, image counts, and common subtopics. This gives the agent concrete targets: write 1,200-1,800 words, include 5-7 H2 headings, add 3 images, and cover these specific subtopics. The result is content that matches or exceeds what already ranks.

Theme Generation from Natural Language

The generate_theme tool takes a natural language prompt like "TechCrunch style with dark header and green accent" and produces a complete visual theme: brand colors (8 tokens), homepage layout, category page layout, and author page layout. It also auto-populates header navigation from categories and footer navigation from static pages. A single MCP call transforms a blank blog into a professionally designed publication.

Discovery and Integration
